Duff McKagan´s Loaded: "Dead Skin" Video Premiere

"Dead Skin", the new video from Duff McKagan´s Loaded can be viewed below (courtesy of CraveOnline.com). The song comes off the group's new album, "The Taking", which will be released on April 19th.

The CD was recorded at a Seattle-area studio with veteran rock producer Terry Date (Soundgarden). Two tracks from "The Taking", were previously made available digitally. ; "We Win" (streaming below) and "Fight On".

"This record really sort of took a life of its own, and the songs really revealed themselves to us as we went along," says
Duff.

"
Terry Date came into the picture at a time when his genius ear helped to capture a sonic theme for the record. You can't underestimate what a guy like Terry brings to the table."

"
'The Taking' is the closest thing to a 'concept' record that I have ever been involved with. Pain, loss, triumph, and redemption. Life. Bring it."

Van Halen To Tour With Ozzy?

Here´s the latest rumours on Van Halen penned by Timmy Abrigg Jr.

"Due to the usual lack of information flowing, Van Halen fans went all kinds of crazy this week at the mere sight of a tweet from Eddie Trunk regarding Van Halen's progress in the studio. When in reality, it pretty much just confirmed the already stated - that the album talked about since last year will appear later this year.... Van Halen's PR department is once again sadly lacking, but there is always hope I guess!

Producer
John Shanks' tweets have been sadly useless. He rarely says anything and when he does it is only cryptic, and looking back, there wasn't anything about his work with VH. Another opportunity missed.

Here's what I can add to the current rumours...
Yes, the album is all but done and it appears mixing is underway, but once again, my source (who has been with me all through this) is sticking with the story that the majority of the album was recorded in 2010 with producer
Ross Hogarth. John Shanks was called in to help David Lee Roth arrange and record the vocals and put the whole thing together.
I'm told that Eddie has played most of the bass parts, but will likely not be credited on the album for that.

My source also tells me that one of his contacts heard one track with the working title of
Lift. It was described as having "a Van Hagar flavor to it" and that "Dave's vocals were done in a very low baritone key."

Lastly, I heard from a venue in Europe that they were offered a mid-year date for a
Van Halen with Ozzy Osbourne tour package. I can't confirm that in any way, but take it as yet another rumour to consider.
That's all until next time..."

Yes: New Album "Fly From Here" Out In July

UPDATE 2: Watch the "Fly From Here" EPK here.

Quintessential prog-rockers Yes have announced that they have reunited with legendary producer Trevor Horn for their highly anticipated new album, "Fly From Here". The album marks the band's first studio album in ten years.

The album originated from a conversation between Horn and Yes bassist Chris Squire, who re-discovered the song 'Fly From Here' and realized that it had never been recorded in a studio. "Chris and I were talking one evening about the song 'Fly From Here' that we never recorded," explains Horn. "I said I was prepared to spend two weeks with Yes recording that song. When I arrived in America to record it, I was taken prisoner by the band and only allowed my freedom again in return for producing the whole album. It was an offer I couldn't refuse!"

"Fly From Here" retains Yes' signature brand of mysticism and large-scale compositions. The record contains plenty of the complex arrangements, beautiful harmonies, and heavy riffs the band is known for. "The new album represents the best of Yes from the '70s and the '80s with a current twist," said Squire.

Keyboardist Geoff Downes, who originally joined the band for 1980's "Drama,", has also re-joined the band for the new album. Yes now consists of guitarist Steve Howe, bassist Chris Squire, drummer Alan White, keyboardist Downes, and lead singer Benoit David.

With total sales of over 30 million albums, Yes are widely considered to be the pioneers of the prog-rock movement.

The group is also known for radio classics such as "Roundabout", a seminal hit that consistently appears on 'the best songs of all time' lists, and the Horn-produced hit "Owner of a Lonely Heart". The latter song reached the top of both the UK and US singles charts simultaneously.

'Fly From Here' will be released on Frontiers Records in July 2011.Read an interview with Chris Squire on this location.

Aerosmith: Tom Hamilton "damned if we don’t have a finished record by the end of September"

Aerosmith is itching to record its long-delayed Big Ten Inch Record, and the band hopes that lead singer — and “American Idol” star — Steven Tyler is finally ready to Let The Music Do The Talking.

“Steven has been really good at selling the idea among his bandmates that the band is No. 1 and this is where his heart is,” bassist Tom Hamilton told the Track. “I look forward to him demonstrating that.”

Tyler, as you know, has been rather busy with non-Aerosmith-related activities ever since he signed on to judge TV’s top-rated talent show this season — a move that had caused some dissension in the ranks, because the band has been promising fans a new disc for more than three years.

“I am bursting at the seams to do this and have been for a long time,’’ Hamilton said. “Everybody’s head is into it, and once Steven is done with his TV gig, we get to work and damned if we don’t have a finished record by the end of September.”

The initiative opened all of the citywide Music Clubhouses – including the one on Dorchester Avenue, in partnership with the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. Lemmy Is "Delighted" To Be One Of Metallica's Influences

MetalInsider.net recently conducted an interview with Motörhead frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

MetalInsider.net: It's just been announced that Motörhead will be playing a few dates with the Foo Fighters. You and Dave Grohl have been long time friends and admirers of each other, but how did a tour with both bands finally come to fruition?

Lemmy: Well, the Foo Fighters/Dave asked us to do the shows. So we said "yeah!" I'm hoping there be some sort of collaboration because I really like playing with Dave. He's like me, he's fast and he's good, and that's always fun. I hate these people that take three hours to do a fucking solo, let alone three weeks sometimes.

MetalInsider.net: After all these years, do you still get a kick when well known and popular musicians, like Dave Grohl and even Metallica, cite you and Motörhead as a major influence on them?

Lemmy: Well, Metallica's starting to feel the old age bite now, aren't they? (laughing) They've been around a long time now. I mean, you can't top Metallica. They're really a fucking excellent band. I'm delighted that they said that I was one of their influences. Like, they have all of their influences, and you can't hear the influences in them, which is great. They've become their own people, and that's great. I like them a lot. I've spent a lot of time with those boys. There's a clip of me jamming with them in Nashville, Tennessee in the ("Lemmy") movie.

Bret Michaels: Interviewed On "On Air With Ryan Seacrest"; Audio Available

Poison singer Bret Michaels was interviewed on this past Tuesday's edition of "On Air With Ryan Seacrest", the American syndicated radio program hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

When asked about reports that he engaged in a romantic relationship with Miley Cyrus' mom Tish, Bret said, "I laughed about this before. If there were some truth to it, it'd be much more scary."

The reports or a Bret-Tish affair first started to surface in November of 2010 following Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus announcing their divorce after 17 years of marriage. Bret had become close to the family at the beginning of 2010 when he recorded a duet with Miley and the family had attended a number of his shows.

"First it started out with me and Miley and we ended that right away," Bret said. "We sang a song together and that's it."

Bret also talked about Miley's cover version of POISON's classic song "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" which features a guest appearance by Michaels.

"When they had asked about doing it, it was great," Bret said. "It's her sort of version of how they wanted to produce the song and I think they did a really good job of it."

Are Van Halen Finishing A New Album?

Although many consider the possibility of a new Van Halen album as something right out of science fiction, the fan site Van Halen News Desk (VHND.com) reports that a "trusted source" says the band is making smooth headway on an upcoming CD, stating that the process is "going great and the band is starting to mix the new tracks."

According to the site, Van Halen are looking to release the John Shanks-produced disc in the fall, and then will tour US together with Scorpions in support of the record.

None of these claims have been confirmed by anyone in the actual Van Halen organization.

When (and if) the album materializes, it would be the first full-length studio release from the band since 1998's Van Halen III. It would also mark the recorded debut of Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, who replaced original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony during 2007's "reunion" tour.

According to Blabbermouth.net, Michael Anthony told ABC News Radio, "I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do." He went on to say that he held no ill will toward his former bandmates for replacing him with Wolfgang.

There are doubters, however, chief among them Sammy Hagar. During a recent interview with MusicRadar, the singer said that didn't see a new Van Halen record happening.

Queen: "New Book Out Now "Is This The Real Life?"

Last week saw the U.S. release of a new Queen bio, titled "Is This The Real Life?" (yep, the opening line from "Bohemian Rhapsody"), via Da Capo Press. Penned by author Mark Blake, the book tells the complete story of the British band that perfected and popularized "arena rock" during the 1970's and 1980's.

The 410 page book is priced at $25.00, and includes such tales about a chance encounter between the Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious and Freddie, the writing of such Queen classics as "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," the preparation of the group's show-stopping performance at Live Aid, and Freddie's final reclusive years, before dying from an AIDS related illness in 1991.

"Is This The Real Life?" also contains a 16-page black and white photo section, which includes such rarely seen shots as the band members during their school days, Freddie preparing for a performance with the Royal Ballet Company in 1979, and a shot of arguably the most over-the-top/gaudy costume ever (from the set of the best-forgotten video for "It's A Hard Life").

KISS: "The Elder" 30th Anniversary Podcast

KISS celebrates the 30th anniversary for the release of "The Elder". PodKISSt has issued a two part podcast.

PodKISSt #42: Under the Rose! Is now available in two-parts at this location.

A description of the show reads as follows: "When you think of KISS, naturally the first thing that comes to mind is a big oak table in a dimply-lit room, right? Isn’t it? OK, not so much. But for many members of the KISS Army, the subdued imagery of 1981 represent a departure from the classic KISS recipe in which there are as many treasures as there are missteps. For three decades, Music From The Elder has generated lively debate within the fan base, so it’s no surprise that it yielded hours of discussion here at PodKISSt. In this two-part installment we’re joined once again by writer Joe Casey (Dark Horse’s KISS comics, Ben 10, Generator Rex) and KISStorian Julian Gill (author of many KISS books and host of KISSfaq) for an in-depth look at this intriguing record. So take the oath and set out an odyssey back to 1981 with PodKISSt… the KISS fanzine for your ears!"

PodKISSt is produced by the KISS Army for the KISS Army. It can be found at the link above and on iTunes.

I know they're auditioning singers now for Velvet Revolver, so I don't know if they find the right guy if that'll affect things timing-wise. I'm not really sure. But the plan right now is that yeah, we'll do a record together down the road."

Warrant: New Interview And Live Footage

Jason Woodbury of the Phoenix New Times' "Up On The Sun" blog recently conducted an interview with Warrant/ex-Lynch Mob singer Robert Mason. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Up On The Sun: Have you guys (Warrant) been working on new material at all or have you been focusing mostly on going out and playing the hits?

Mason: Funny you should ask. There's a record that's just done now, (there's) a brand new Warrant record (called "Rockaholic") due out in May. We really took our time, and, through a couple years of doing "fly" dates, we kinda said, well, the band works, we're all doing it for the right reasons, we're all really happy on stage. It's great playing this legacy of music, and the fans love it, so why not [write some new songs] — but we were careful about it. We didn't just throw a record together. We test-marketed a couple of these songs live last summer, just springing them on the audiences. "Hey this is something you've never heard before," and by the end of the song, everyone is singing along, or buying into it. So we figured we should put the record out.

Up On The Sun: Did you feel a lot of pressure with the new material? To live up to the hit songs the band had scored?

Mason: We're just musicians. I'm just a songwriter/singer in a rock band. I was writing songs for this record, and personally, did I feel like they had to fit into an old-school Warrant mode? To a degree, but I don't really think you write songs like that. The fact that we are all from the same headspace, it kind of worked out that way. Some of these songs sound like a bit of a departure, but there are tracks on this new CD that we played live in the rehearsal room, and they came together through pre-production and shit, for the year prior or so to this record, and they sound like Warrant songs to us. It's just me singing. My voice is a little different than the original singer, but it's just a thing were you go on, and you write songs. I turned over things I had written, and say, do your thing, play it the Warrant way, and they could do nothing else, and I would ask nothing else. So, is that the long way of answering yes? (laughs) I didn't feel pressure, or intimidation, but there was a certain responsibility.

Queensrÿche: More "Dedicated To Chaos" Details

Queensrÿche announced earlier that their new album will be called "Dedicated to Chaos" and it will be released this summer. It’s the band’s first effort for its new label, Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud. The band – featuring Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren — is currently planning a tour in support of the new opus, which wa recorded in its native Seattle. Tour dates and information will be released when available.

“Modern life moves fast,” commented frontman Geoff Tate about the album. “Plug into the rhythm of the now with our 12th studio album, "Dedicated to Chaos". It’s a clash and slash of musical experimentation anchored by the pulse of digital code.” He did issue one suggestion to listeners as well, saying: “Enjoy – headphones are a must.”

Queensrÿche’s 1988-issued album "Operation: Mindcrime" is universally respected as a classic concept release about rock, revenge and redemption, which is ultimately regarded as one of the most important and essential hard rock records in the genre’s expansive canon.

In 2006, the band released "Operation: Mindcrime II", a scorching sequel to their original. The band then hit the road performing both albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" back-to-back in their entirety in an incredible theatrical presentation throughout the year.

The band is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and "Dedicated to Chaos" marks a new and riveting chapter in Queensrÿche’s already impressive history that fans will not want to miss.

Queensrÿche will tour UK with Judas Priest this summer.
